Funding opportunities
Within the framework of its Excellence Strategy the University of Tübingen promotes Early Career Researchers with a diverse range of internal funding opportunities. Postdocs as well as doctoral students and Germans as well as foreigeners are equally adressed to apply for funding.
Programs for the Promotion of Junior Researchers
Funds are available for research projects carried out at the University of Tübingen as part of the Promotion of Junior Researchers Program. Start-up financing for innovative projects with good prospects of attaining external third-party funding are supported. Qualified junior researchers are thereby given the chance to start up independent research projects. This program is aimed at the development of a bigger third-party funding application.
Innovation Grants in the Sciences / Life Sciences
Innovation Grants in the Sciences and Life Sciences make it possible to test the feasibility of translating research findings into applications (proof of concept). Junior researchers (postdocs, straight after completing their PhDs) are to be given the opportunity to translate the knowledge gained in their doctoral thesis into usable processes, services or products.
Innovation Grants - Humanities and Social Sciences
Innovation Grants give junior researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences the opportunity to transfer their research results to practical applications, thus suggesting alternatives to an academic career path within the University. The goal is to apply results attained from doctoral studies to the creation of innovative techniques, services and products through collaboration with extramural partners. This would enable a transfer of theoretical knowledge to the public sphere.
Summer/Winter Schools
In addition to the offers of the Graduate Academy, the funding program primarily serves the qualification of postdocs. The aim of the Summer & Winter Schools is to expand the interdisciplinary and international networking of young researchers in addition to their scientific and methodological skills.

Tübingen Reloaded
Tübingen Reloaded is a competitive funding program that enables Tübingen institutes and researchers to invite their international alumni back to Tübingen for a research visit.
